Commission on Presidential Debates Names Fourteen Sites as Possible Locations for 2004 Debates

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) today announced that it has received proposals from fourteen potential 2004 debate sites. They are:

Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
Belmont University, Nashville, TN
Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, OH
Centre College, Danville, KY
Columbus, GA and Columbus State University
Greater Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau, Pittsburgh, PA
National Public Radio
Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY
University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS
University of Miami, Miami, FL
University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the City of Charlotte, NC
University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC
Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN
Washington University in St. Louis, MO

The CPD will conduct site surveys during the next several months and plans to announce the final sites in November, 2003.

The CPD is the non-partisan, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that sponsored all the general election presidential and vice presidential debates in 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000.
